As the world comes together to celebrate the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Wesbrook Village is hosting a special community event that you won’t want to miss! From July 26 to August 11, Norman MacKenzie Square will transform into a lively gathering place where residents and visitors of all ages can watch the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on a big screen under a spacious tent. Grab your friends, family, neighbours, and a snack from one of the surrounding eateries and come cheer on Team Canada! The big screen will feature a variety of Olympic events. A preliminary streaming schedule* is listed below:
- Friday, July 26: 10:30AM – 2.30PM and 4PM – 8PM (Opening Ceremony)
- Saturday, July 27: 9AM – 8PM
- Sunday, July 28: 9AM – 3PM and 3PM – 8PM

What is the admission fee?
This is a community-focused event — the Olympics broadcast is free and open to the public!
Are there washrooms nearby?
Washrooms are available in the surrounding eateries and cafés for paying customers. Otherwise, public washrooms can be found at the Wesbrook Community Centre located at 3335 Webber Lane.

How can I apply to be a vendor?
At this time, only Wesbrook commercial businesses may apply to use the tent space.
What measures are in place to manage noise?
The sound has been checked and will aim not to exceed the neighbourhood bylaws. If you have feedback, please contact info@ubcproperties.com.
Is the paneling over the fountain permanent?
No, the paneling will be removed, and the fountain will resume running after the Olympics streaming event finishes on August 11.
Will there be seating?
We have placed a few red Adirondack chairs in the area, along with 30 5-foot benches. These will be first-come-first-serve — while we appreciate viewers’ excitement, please note that there are to be no reservations or holds of seats. You may bring your own chair such as a fold-up camping chair for guaranteed seating.
What happens if it’s raining?
This event will go on rain or shine — the tent will shield viewers from the rain. The tent is half opaque white and half transparent to provide shade while also allowing daylight through. It’s a good idea to wear sunscreen and bring a hat if you will be sitting under the sun.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes! Please keep your dog on a leash while enjoying the festivities in Norman MacKenzie Square.
Where is parking?
There is free 2-hour underground parking in Wesbrook Village. The entrance is to the left of Save On Foods, as well as on Webber Lane to the right of Shoppers Drug Mart.
Will there be food & drinks?
The surrounding eateries provide every type of food & drink your heart could desire! Snag a prime viewing spot on Sports Illustrated Clubhouse’s patio or grab some takeout to bring to a seat under the tent. Feel free to pack your own picnic as well! Just please be mindful of the space you are taking up, and no BBQs or stoves are permitted.
Can I bring my own alcohol?
No, alcohol is not permitted in Norman MacKenzie Square other than in the surrounding licensed restaurant’s premises. This is not a liquor licensed area.
Will there be security?
Yes, there will be 24/7 presence in the square.
